Hurumanu: Climate Change and the future

Aim; To look at the different ways we can prevent climate change in the future.

What places will be affected?  It will take up most of the land in NZ

What else do we need to think about? places near rivers and  Our native animals that are all going to die if we do not do something.

What other places around NZ will be affected? the other island like pacific islands.

What does this do to our drinking water? it can become saltier if saltwater is coming into the place where we get water like rivers,

What are the main concerns? saltwater will get in peoples drinking water.

    What can we do?
    1.  try not to use cars that use fossil fuels like electric cars.
    2.    if you are building a new house trying to make a way to not use lots of energy.
    3.     use public transport.

What is the one, silver bullet solution?
    there is no silver bullet

What is the mix of things we need to start doing?
    1.    get more renewable energy
    2.   soler heating
    3. transports.
What are 3 others you can think of?
    1.   using a bike to get to school
    2. recycling
    3.   reuse some stuff like plastic bags and plastic  bottles

      Materials:

      1.   Pizza box
      2.  tin foil
      3.   plastic raper
      4.   vivid
      5.   sisters
      6.   tape
      7.   straw
      Steps:
      1.  cut out a flap on the lid of the pizza box to that it is 5cm from the edge
      2.   sellotape some tinfoil on the inside of the flap.
      3.    sellotape some glad wrap so that the hole you have cutis covered over it the glad wrap.
      4.   put a piece of black plastic at the bottom of the pizza box.
      5.    make a square with some paper that fits on the edge of the box.
      6.   put a marshmallow on the top of a biscuit
      7. put it on a plate and put it in the sun.

      Conclusion

The smores were not cooked because of the sun near the oven. the positive thing that heat did not get out because we did our best and there was nowhere that the heat can get out.

Aim: To make a presentation that investigates different renewable energy's.

      Section 1: Title Page

Make a title page that incorporates all renewable energy 's Hydro, Solar, Wind and Wave.

      Section 2: Definitions

Define and provide a picture of each energy type.

Hydro Energy/ Hydroelectric energy is energy derived from the movement of water. Water has mass. It falls and flows downward due to gravity.

Solar Energy/energy emitted by the sun.

Wind Energy electrical energy obtained from harnessing the wind with windmills or wind turbines.

Wave EnergyWave energy (or wave power) is the transport and capture of energy by ocean surface waves.

Section 3; Investigate each of the 4 Energy types.
      (Hydro, Solar,   Wind,  Wave )

      1. Type: Hydro
      2. Is it used in NZ? yes, most of New Zealand's energy is made up of hydro.
      3. Other Countries that use it? Brazil, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Austria, Switzerland, Venezuela, and several other countries use hydro energy.
      4. How is it used to generate electricity? energy derived from the movement of water. Water has mass. It falls and flows downward due to gravity.
      5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator? This can be done on paper and uploaded or on a drawing program on your device. I do not want any Internet images or pictures. They must be hand-drawn using a ruler and labelled.

      1. Type: wind

      2. Is it used in NZ? yes but not lots.

      3. Other Countries that use it?  Germany, India Spain, The United

      4. Kingdom, France and Brazil all use wind power

      5. How is it used to generate electricity? wind turbine captures
      6. the wind, which then produces a renewable energy source.
      7.  Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator? This can be done on paper and uploaded or on a drawing program on your device. I do not want any Internet images or pictures. They must be hand-drawn using a ruler and labelled.

    1. Type: wave
    2. Is it used in NZ? no there are lots of big waves but we no not use a wave as energy.
    3. Other Countries that use it?  Spain, Portugal, Ghana, Sweeden and many more

    4. How is it used to generate electricity? wind turbine captures the wind, which then produces a renewable energy source. wave energy is produced when electricity generators are placed on the surface of the ocean.

    5.  Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator? This can be done on paper and uploaded or on a drawing program on your device. I do not want any Internet images or pictures. They must be hand-drawn using a ruler and labelled.

      1. Type: soler

      2. Is it used in NZ? yes

      3. Other Countries that use it?  Germany, India Spain, The United,
      4. Kingdom, France and Brazil all use sun power

      5. How is it used to generate electricity? Solar energy is produced when sunlight strikes solar panels, which then turn solar power into usable electricity.

      6.  Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator? This can be done on paper and uploaded or on a drawing program on your device. I do not want any Internet images or pictures. They must be hand-drawn using a ruler and labelled.

Section 4: Renewable Energy in the future.

List 10 ways that renewable energy will be used in the future to replace our current activities.

      1. boats cars
      2. robots
      3. houses
      4. petrel stations
      trains
      planes
      soler powered batteries
      chargers
      fossil fuels
