Tangata Whenua

Hi, guys welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to talk about how the Maori came to New Zealand. We had to watch a video that gave us facts. I have some to share here. Here is some.


1. The Maori came from South East Asia and Hawaiki.

2. The arrived here by WAKA.

3. They took with them dogs, kumara and around 25 waka.

4. They got most of their food from the sea.

5. The Maori did eat the moa and made clothes out of feathers and they all died.

6. The Maori stayed in NZ because it was bigger and had lots of food.

    These are some great facts about the first Maori arriving in New Zealand David. I also like your images! Do you remember that they said that the Maori were probably stuck in New Zealand once they'd arrived because it would have been difficult to sail home against strong winds? They did have lots of kai though as you said. Keep up the great work.
