Summer Learning Journey 2019-20 | Week 2, Day 1 | Activity 3

Hi, guys, today is the second week of the SLG. That stands for the summer learning journey. The purpose of it is for when you back to school from the big holiday your reading and writing does not drop in level. If you do not do the SLJ in the summer the stuff that you did through the year you will need to do all of it again.

The Right Honorable Jacinda Ardern is the current Prime Minister (PM) of New Zealand (NZ). You might have heard of her because she’s in the news a lot! Did you know that she is the second youngest person and the second woman ever to be elected PM of NZ?
As PM, Jacinda Ardern makes a number of important decisions every day. Before she makes these decisions, she meets with many people to hear their ideas and get their perspectives (views) on issues.

Let’s imagine you were to write a letter to Jacinda Ardern about an issue that is really important to you, and to ask her for help. It could be something serious to do with education, health or welfare, or it could be something more fun and crazy - you decide!

For this activity, please write a letter that includes the issue you have chosen, why you have chosen it, and what you would like our Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, to do about it. It is your job to persuade us (and her!) that it’s an important issue.

here it is.

Dear: Jacinda,

I would like to talk with you about their pollution around NZ. I would like to do something to help with this. I think that we should put more bin on the streets. And if someone got court littering I think they should get punished.

thank you.

  1. Hey David,

Congratulations on completing another activity. You sure have been busy. :)

This is a great issue to bring up with our Prime Minister. It's so important that we keep our environment as clean as we can. I really like that you've not only stated the issue but that you've provided suggestions on possible solutions to the problem - nice work! :)

This year I want to volunteer more to help with our pollution problem. There's always lots of rubbish-collecting and native tree-planting events happening here in Auckland. Does anything like that happen where you are?

    Have a wonderful day. :)

    Blog ya later!
