Athletics day 2017

On Tuesday we did athletics day. First I did sprints. We did shot put, long distance running and after we did that, we got to have a drink  in the break for 20 minute. When the break was over we went off to discus with Miss Scott and I got 4th in that and 4th in the long distance. Next was the high jump my favourite. I was a bit nervous but the first 3 were easy but the others were hard. I think I did good. Next up was the long jump.  I jumped 2.2 metres. I was too tired I think. I got better at everything.

Great White Sharks

Hi my name is David and I am going to talk about great white sharks.

Have you ever thought about what is under the ocean? I am going to tell you about the biggest shark the great white. I am going to tell you about what they eat, habitat, size, attacks, colour, their eyes and more.

What do they eat?

Young great white shark eat fish and stingrays and even small sharks. Adults eat seals, small toothed whales, otters, sea turtles and dead animals. Great white sharks do not chew their food. Some people think they are just aggressive but they rarely attack people. They do attack because they think you're a seal. Here is a picture. There is a picture of a megalodon. A megalodon is 3 or more times bigger than a great white shark.

             

Size and speed

The two largest great white sharks ever found were 36 and 37 feet long but the normal size is about 15 to 20 feet long to 6.1 meters or more and can weigh more than 5,000 lbs or 2,268 kilograms. Great white sharks can go to a speed of 15 miles per hour. That is 40 km per hour. The fastest shark in the world can go to top speeds of 45 to over 60 miles per hour, it is the mako shark. This is not a shark you would want to challenge to a race!

Their colour   

The name Great White Shark is because it has a white belly and the top is dark grey or a very light black. Their grey top makes them camouflage in the dark water from orcas because they kill them. video about a orca attacking a great white shark

Their eyes  

To protect their eyes from thrashing prey some sharks like the tiger shark cover their eyes. It was once thought that sharks had poor eyesight but now they studied and know that sharks have very good eyesight.

Pups and eggs

Baby sharks are called pups. Some kinds of pups hatch from eggs. Others are born. Mother sharks do not care for their pups. The pup must learn to eat and stay safe by themself.

                      

Age

Great white sharks live a long life, they usually live to 70 years that is a long time. Some sharks can live over 70. The oldest great white shark is 83 years old.

Their nose

They can smell a single drop of blood in a billion drops of water. The shark's nose is definitely one of its most impressive features. As the shark moves, water flows through two forward facing nostrils, along the sides of the snout.

Overall I think great white sharks are not their to hurt you. They think you are something to eat. I have told you how they think that you are a seal or stingray. Sharks have great eyesight, noses and and are very fast swimmers. I have looked through lots of books to epic and websites. The Last Fight at Canterbury swim school

It  is the last day of swimming  at Canterbury swim school. My goal was to get in the big pool and all so do a hole lengths of the big pool at backstroke. I have managed to go in to the big pool and do a lengths of backstroke. I made another goal  to do  two   lengths of backstroke. I didn't do that,

 I did not know how to turn at the end without putting my feet at the  bottom. The last day we did water safety and what to do if you fool in or if you find some one  drowning. I teamed up with Tom he went in the water and I got a noodle  and threw it to him and I was pulling Tom and me swapped. It was a good experience to do survival skills in the water.

the frist day of swimming

On the 16 of October we went to the first swimming lesson of the year.  We went to the bus it had a driver she was very nice. When we got to Canterbury swim school we got changed  I was in the warm pool. In my group there was Anthony, Quaid, Shania and me. The first thing was bubble breathing. It was fun. My goal is to get in to the big pool by 1 week but the big pool with my friends.

Sun was going down behind the pacific ocean. The clouds were pink mixed with red. It was a long day. The houses there were big and colorful. I was flying up above the clouds with my friend delivering babies,kittens, and puppies. It was a good view. The clouds were as fluffy as cotton candy.

First up was a baby called Rachel she was born in 2011 and she is a newborn. We took it to a house at 58/A red rose st.The mother was waiting at the window. We gave it to her and I went off.

The Next one was the kittens. A family of 4 wanted 2 kittens because they wanted them for there  kids. They wanted a pet.

The last one it was my turn. It was a cute puppy. the owner  of the adult dog had  ordered one.

We went back to the cloud makers. There not just clouds they have faces. They can make stuff out of clouds and electrocuted the cloud so they can turn real.

“Ah you are back” said the cloud

“Yes I am”

They were making cat and dog the cloud made the dog a chew toy and a bone.Once again they made a baby but babies cri so they made him a sacer  ball the a helmet. They put the baby in the cotton  bag and took off. Under  the  white clouds was the rain cloud.It was  gray and black. The rain cloud made a crocodile and gave it to the stork. He was very nervous because it was his first time.When I got back my fathers were gone of my wing.

When I got back he was making a rame.I thought it was a puppy but it was not. I went and delivered it.It was hitting me. When I got back  He made a sheep but when he made it real It was a headshoge the spines were all over my wings.he put it on the bag.The bag had lots of holes in it so I took it and went off. When i got back there was spines in my head. The gray cloud took it out of my head.he gave me a shark.I said it was too much . I got a armor suit and put it on. He gave me a eel it was fun delivering things

My bones were chilling with fear I am afraid of heights.I was going on the biggest  fire slide in town. My hands were sweating. I needed to go down but I could not go back down  the stairs  because  people were waiting. I pushed  myself down the fire slide. When I got to the end I started to feel that I was not scared any more.

But then I started to think that the ball pit was too deep like the south pacific ocean.I started to sink in even more . I could  not even have a single breath. My feet started to slip. It was because there was nothing under me. I fell in head first into a new place. It was very dark, I landed in an Island that was not stable but it is stable enough that I could stand on them.There was a rainbow lollipop that was licked and stuck to my face . I  got back up and looked  up as I could just see the top. I can do it but it will be hard.I started to climb up the steep mountain of pit balls.I was slipping but I needed to go to the top before my mum started to worry. I jumped to the other Island, it looked safer. My feet slipped on a little boys boomerang.  I was just about to grab  the edge  and climbed again. I was climbing so fast. I stopped. There was  a bandage falling to my nose. Aaaaachoo. I was thinking that it was the end . But I grabbed something. It was a half eaten lollipop. I stuck it onto the huge mountain. When I got to the top I found out that the lollipop had hair and dirt. But I still ate it

the war piano

I was in my garage then I found my old piano.I took it out and dusted it. I found the legendary music book. I was playing my favorite song.It took  me back to my old life when my wife was alive. She died of  old age.

I dreamed that she gave me a kiss of love as she disappeared  briefly. That kiss reminded me of when  I was to the war and she gave me the last kiss.My brother was in the war with me. As soon as he loaded  his sniper. He  looked over the wall and …. Bang! My brother got shot in the chest. It  was the end  of his live. He got shot to save my life.

It made me cry. As I was typing away a little 5 year boy came  to me  I  gave him a blue bot. He opened it. It was  a toy horse  made out of wood. I gave him it because I had a horse in the war. The 5 year old boy came and sat on the comfy seat  next to me his grandad.

Hornby Primary school wensday Extravaganza

W.A.L.T to do live performances in front of people we don't know.

This term we have been working on a live  performances and Hornby high school. Our theme was NZ music month. We got lots of NZ song from 2001 and under.Me and my group where doing six month in a leaky boat. My group and I needed to wear a blue and white stripey t-shirt. Every one who was preforming came at 6;pm but the show started at 6;30. The class went behind the auditorium and waited for a bit. When it was our classes  turn the songs went in the order  I see red,chains,six months in a  leaky boat,slice of  heaven,sway, How bizarre,and  gutter black. At the end the hole class where doing why does love do this to me. It was a fun week. I hope you liked it  please comment bye.

The ridge

I was in my boat. I was going to the mountains so I could  go mountain biking.

I was seeing lots of stuff that a I have  not seen before. I was seeing seals scattered around the place.

When I arrived I hopped off  my boat and got my mountain  bike and started my journey. It was going to be a bumpy ride. I went on and I was out of site.  I did  some little jumps.

I jumped on a big bolder and I went across a small log to a big and hire bolder.I  pushed myself down. I do didn't full off any of them. I was time to start the big journey up the mountain. At the start it was easy because there was a path. When I got to half way I could not ride it because it was too steep so I cared it when I got I came back down it was very bumpy when I got to my boat it was gone.I guess it is not a bad place to live after all.

Building a pyramid

W.A.L.T create  a model that shares something we have learnt about  our  mystery.

 We made  a pyramid. We made it to show what is in the pyramids. We started to build it  with a big cardboard. I made a big triangle and cut it out with scissors. Me and my buddy traced around the triangle to make it the same size. We made three triangles. We stuck them with glue and painted it and made the crops  inside. I think I have made a good pyramid.

kitchen out of card bored

On the school holidays I was making a kitchen out of  card bored. Me and my sister was making a stove we got a box and cut a little door. The next  thing is to cut out four black circles.We got some lids and got the hot glue. we waited until it got hot. My sister was not aloud to get the hot glue gun. we got some  old DVD and put it on the top. 

 the next thing we made we made a sink. We got a  big box and got a  made a hole in the middle and put a plat.

Cultural Show

this term we have been looking at different cultures. For the last three weeks we have been learning a  traditional cultural dance.  the year fives learnt the sasa. the year four and six did the haka.

I was proud  because I did not mess up the dance and I did it right.

Hi on Friday we went to the beach  at Spenser park we got lots of  shells.  I needed to  make a drawing in my book. This is my sculpture made out of four sticks and nine shells. It took my three days to do it without breaking and waiting for the hot glue gun. My friend gave me the stick that stands up the sculpture. My sculpture is called the  A of power. I called it  that  because  it looks like an A  and the power is inside the A.

Spencer Park

On Friday room 11 , 12 , 1 and 2 went to Spencer park. We went to have fun and learn new stuff. I was excited to get on the bus and travel to Spencer Park. I sat with Tom and talked about games.

I went to the wetlands first. It was a long walk.  We went to the bird hide out. We went in groups up there so the birds don't fly away. The birds were big and they were white and black. The white one had a big,long beak.

After we got down, we had morning tea. I ate my cheese and crackers. After morning tea we went back to the first meeting.

The next thing we did went to the beach I took off my shoes and socks. The sand was so soft as a pillow.We went to the water and found lots of shells. I found a big one a full one. I  found a snail shell. At the end we had  how can make the biggest sand castle. In my team was Jamie and Kaden.

I found some new shells some sea weed and lots of big sticks and I got one the size of a medium size tree. The big brunch could  not be put  on the sand castle.

The third  thing  we did we went to have lunch at the playground I eat some watermelon, nutella and  grapes.I went to fill my drink bottle because I was thirsty. The water was yuck.

Where was apples and plums I took a apple and after that we went on the bus and sat next to Hunter I was sleeping on the bus. I learnt on this trip that not all birds eat insects.

1 week ago we read a book called five dollar I did some inferring. I read the book and went back and tried to know what he was doing. inferring is when a person is reading between the lines. Good readers understand what writers often tell more than they say with words.  I hope you like it.

One sunny day I was playing my favourite video game Minecraft. Mum walked in with a big box. Mum said “Look what I got. It is a present. A present? I opened the box. It is a  golden puppy with a big black nose. I was really  happy. “Ewww, it has three legs”. I threw it on the ground. It found a ball. The puppy went to get the ball. But it did not duck. He bumped his head on the shelf. The dog looks like it would be fun. I wonder if it will forgive me? I took the red ball. I went to play out with the dog. I am happy to have a friend with a missing leg as well.
